Hoogeveen is a small town in the province of Drenthe. Hoogeveen has around 40.000 inhabitants.  Hoogeveen  originally had a lot of canals to transport the peat, but after the second world war, most of those canals were closed and they became roads.  There are a lot of places where you can get food, there are a lot of snackbars where you can get some Dutch snacks.
